Award recipient’s decided for the 49th Kishida Kunio Drama Awards, the prestigious prize for emerging contemporary playwrights.
  The two winning plays are Toshiki Okada’s Sangatsu no Itsukakan (Five Days in March) and Kankuro Kudo’s Donju (Dull Animal). Toshiki Okada was born in 1973 and leads the theater unit “Chelfitsch” known for performances that make use of the language and physical sensibilities of today’s young people. Kankuro Kudo was born in 1970 and is playwright, director and actor for the popular theater troupe “Otona Keikaku.” His work is acclaimed for the way it presents pop sensibility and makes creative use of contemporary language. He is also active and a screenwriter for TV dramas and movies.
