Schedule announced for TPAM in Yokohama 2013 (International Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama, 2013) (Feb. 9 – 17, 2013)

TPAM in Yokohama 2013 is an international platform for performing arts professionals composed of a Showing Program and a Networking Program. The year before last it moved from Tokyo to Yokohama, where it takes as its main venues the Yokohama Creativecity Center (YCC), the Kanagawa Arts Theatre (KAAT), BankART Studio NYK, the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse (Bldg. No. 1).
The core of the Showing Program is the TPAM Direction showcase put together by three young presenters (Katsuhiro Ohira, Yukako Ogura, Takuo Miyanaga). This time the lineup consists of seven works by artists including Kakuya Ohashi, Kitamari and Kunio Sugihara. Also, there is the International Showcase assembled in collaboration with overseas performing arts groups featuring six works and projects this time from France, Turkey, the UK, Canada and Singapore. They include a work titled Professor (premiered 2010) by the noted French choreographer of the new generation, Maud Le Pladec; the theater work Little Iliad by the Toronto, Canada-based Evan Webber and Frank Cox-O’Connell, which they stage for a small audience wearing headsets; and a new international collaboration work by Phillipe Quesne and Japan’s Seinendan company. There is also the TPAM Direction Plus showcase assembled by a partnership of Japanese presenters, which presents the Japan premiere of Zero Cost House by Toshiki Okada, plus performances by KENTARO!!, mum & gypsy and the Canadian circus company 7 Fingers.
The Networking Program provides a “Speed Networking” program that arranges one-on-one meetings on request with Japanese and international presenters, an “Artist Salon” where participants can meet invited artists from Europe and a “Performing Arts Presenters’ Network Meeting” to establish a new membership organization.
Participant registrations are now being accepted for “TPAM Exchange” stand exhibitors and the “TPAM Showcase” introducing performances in the Tokyo and Yokohama areas during TPAM. Also, visitor registrations are now being accepted for people wishing to attend the various TPAM programs (early registration discount available until Jan. 11).
