The Julidans festival (canceled due to concerns over the new coronavirus)
The Julidans festival was launched in 1991 by the Amsterdam municipal theater Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam and the production company Van Baasbank & Baggerman. As the name Julidans (July dance) implies, the festival is held each July at a growing number of venues throughout the city of Amsterdam. It has won high acclaim as an international dance festival with its cutting-edge program of works ranging from controversial works and appearances by unknown artists and works by non-European artists. From 2007, the festival has added a "Julidans NEXT" program that gives artists the chance to introduce works by talented young artists. There is also a "Cinedans" program that presents dance video and film works.
