The National Theatre of Japan 40th Anniversary Contest for new Kabuki plays
 In 2006, the National Theatre of Japan, Tokyo, celebrates its 40th anniversary, and as a commemorative program, an open contest for new Kabuki play scripts is being held. The subject matter is not limited but the scripts must be of plays that have never been performed yet and of a type that can be acted plot by Kabuki actors. The top prize for the Excellence Award is 2 mi. yen (including premiere performance and publication fees), the Honorable Mention prize is 500,000 yen and the Encouragement Award prize is 100,000 yen.
