The Japan Foundation Overseas Programs Around the World (from June 2006)
 The Japan Foundation will sponsor the following performance programs beginning from June 2006.
+Jazz in Japan
“Jazz in Japan” is a performance series organized by the Japan Foundation in Paris (Maison de la culture du Japon à Paris) to introduce Japanese jazz musicians and this year will be its sixth holding. With a theme contemporary forms of improvisation in light of today’s international jazz scene, a 5-day program will present five groups. Two of these will involve collaboration with French musicians. The artistic director is Teruto Soejima.

June 3: “Contemporary Jazz from Japan”

+Ohkura school Kyogen tours Eastern Europe
Young Kyogen artists of the Ohkura school led by Motonari Ohkura is making a performance tour in Easter Europe with performances in eight cities in four countries. In Romania, performances were given in the Sibiu International Theatre Festival. In Bulgaria performances were given at the annual “Rose Festival” in Kazanluk.

+Condors performance in Manila
The popular dance company Condors led by Ryohei Kondo will give a contemporary dance performance and a workshop in Manila. This program is a function of the Japan Philippine Friendship Year 2006 and is being held at the Culture Center of the Philippines as part of the Philippine International Performing Arts Festival held in conjunction with the 31st UNESCO International Theatre Institute World Congress, Manila organized by the International Theater Institute.

+Un Yamada in Indonesia Dance Festival
Contemporary dance artist Un Yamada has been invited to perform in Indonesia’s larges dance festival, the Indonesia Dance Festival, She will perform her work W.i.f.e.

+Michihiro Sato Australia tour
In celebration of the Japan-Australia Friendship Year, Tsugaru shamisen performer Michiro Sato and a group including shakuhachi flutist Shozan Tanabe, tabla performer Masaki Yoshimi and others will give concerts of Japanese music in three Australian cities.
