Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama (TPAM in Yokohama) opens February 2011 in association with IETM Asia Satellite Meeting in Yokohama
TPAM in Yokohama will re-launch under a new name, with Meeting replacing the Market in the former name to place added focus on its function as an international platform promoting encounters between performing arts professionals. The re-launch and renaming also reflects the Meeting’s move from Tokyo to Yokohama as part of the latter’s new “Creative City” policy. From February 16 to 20, 2011, TPAM in Yokohama will be held at the main venues—Yokohama Creativecity Center as its “Meeting Space,” Kanagawa Kenmin Hall as its “Communication Space” and Kanagawa Arts Theatre, which opens in January 2011, as its “Performance Space”—and other venues in Yokohama such as Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Number 1, ST Spot Yokohama, ZOU-NO-HANA Terrace, Yokohama Nigiwai-za (Noge Schale) and BankART Studio NYK. The Meeting will be a multifaceted event, taking advantage of Yokohama’s position as a “theater city,” with the venues in close proximity so participants can easily move between them on foot.

Registration as an exhibitor or visitor is necessary to participate in TPAM in Yokohama. Three types of presentation forms are offered to the exhibitors:
• Booth Presentation
• Visual Presentation Plus: video presentation and actual performance with simple setting.
• TPAM Showcase: a “fringe” type of showcase program that is open for application by performances to be held in the period from February 12 to 20, 2011, in Yokohama and Tokyo areas.
Registered exhibitors and visitors can participate in most programs without admission. Some programs are open also to the general audience, but registered participants receive benefits such as free admission, discounts or priority sales.

The IETM Asia Satellite Meeting in Yokohama is to be held in association with TPAM in Yokohama over the three days of February 14-16, 2011). Following Singapore (2005), Beijing and Shanghai (2006), Seoul (2007), Tokyo (2008) and Jakarta (2010), this satellite meeting is an opportunity for performing arts professionals from Europe, Asia and the Middle East to gather to confer, exchange information and build networks. Registered participants of TPAM in Yokohama are invited to the Satellite Meeting without admission.

Performance showcases are held in the following five categories:
• TPAM Direction: showcases curated by emerging young presenters.
• TPAM Direction Plus: introduces productions by public halls or NPOs.
• International Showcase: in cooperation with overseas performing arts organizations.
• Studio Showing: performances with simple setting by exhibitors.
• TPAM Showcase: above-mentioned fringe-type showcase.
In addition, “Contemporary Dance Showcase” by Yokohama Dance Collection EX 2011, an “artist-run” dance community forum “We dance,” “Lab Selection” by ST Spot Yokohama and “Little Theatres of the World vol.1—Germany” in co-curation by NPO Drifters International and HAU Berlin will be held.
