IETM Spring Plenary Meeting to be held in Berlin (April 15 – 18, 2010)
IETM is a Belgium-based international contemporary performing arts network. Launched in 1981 as the Informal European Theatre Meeting, its name was changed in 2005 to the International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts while retaining the same acronym in order to spread its activities and membership beyond the European community. This led to the holding of Asian satellite meetings in Singapore (2005), Beijing and Shanghai (2006), Seoul (2007, jointly with the Performing Arts Market in Seoul) and Tokyo (2008, jointly with the Tokyo Performing Arts Market).
This spring IETM’s Plenary Meeting returns to Berlin for the first time in 25 years with cooperation from Haus der Kulturen der Welt and Radial System V to be held on the theme of “Searching for Plan C.” After exploring “Plan A” (Capitalism, market economy and surrealism) and “Plan B” (Communism, protectionism and postmodernism) the coming meeting will search for creative solutions for the current so-called crisis and propose a Plan C. IETM membership is necessary to participate in the meeting.
