Applications open for Germany’s PACT Zollverein 2014 artist residency program (Deadline Jun. 17, 2013)
Applications are now being accepted for artist residencies at PACT Zollverein in the city of Essen in Germany’s western Ruhr region.
PACT Zollverein was founded in 2002 as a research foundation with facilities to serve as a platform of support for developments in the fields of dance, performance, theatre, media and fine arts. Operating the theater and studio facility renovated from one of the largest former coal mining facilities in the industrial Ruhr region, PACT Zollverein provides residency programs for domestic and foreign artists, and academic platform enabling exchanges between artists and academics across genres, as well as a platform for collaborative productions and presentations of invited works. The facility serves as one of the main venues for the Ruhr Triennial, and Stefan Hilterhaus serves as artistic director.
The Residency Program has two periods a year, with recipients selected in the areas of dance, performance, media arts or sound art. The recipients are offered local accommodation, round-trip transportation to Essen, studio spaces varying from 63 to 173 ㎡ a certain amount of funding for their creative work. And, based on prior consultation, they can take advantage of various kinds of stage and technical assistance, and assistance from professionals in the areas of dramaturgy, fund raising, project management as well as press and publicity.
